Rice flour: 100 gm
Split-chickpea/chana dal, unsoaked: 50 gm
Oil: 5 ml
Ginger: An inch long
Garlic: 5 cloves
Green chilli: 1
Salt: As required
Cumin seeds: A pinch
Water: As required
Grind soaked chickpea, ginger, garlic and chilli to a coarse paste.
In a wok, add oil and cumin seeds. Put the dal mixture as the cumin seeds turn golden and cook it for minutes. Keep it aside to cool down.
In a mixing bowl, take rice flour and knead a dough with tolerable hot water.
Now divide the dough into equal portions.
Flatten the dough balls into thick small chapati with hands. Add the dal filling in the middle and fold it in shape of a dumpling. Repeat the same for all the balls.
Place the dumplings or pithas in a steamer and steam it for minutes.
Pithas are ready to be served with dip or chutney of your choice.
