Fish 200 gms
Mustard oil 5gms
Onion 1 medium
Tomato 1 medium
Cumin seeds -1tsp
Asafoetida - a pinch
Kashmiri red chilli whole -4-5
Garlic - 6-7 cloves
Ginger paste - 1tsp
Cinnamon stick-1 inch
Peppercorns - 3-4
Salt to taste
Dry mango powder, Red chilli powder, Garam masala, Turmeric powder - as per preference (1tsp)
Soak red chillies,garlic, tomato, cinnamon stick,cumin seeds, peppercorns in cold water for mins and then grind into a fine paste.
Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds and asafoetida.
Add onions and ginger paste once the seeds start popping. Saute until light brown.
Add the prepared paste and cook until reduced to half.
Add all the spices along with some salt and cook for a minute.
Add the fish pieces and cook for a minute each side.
Add cup water(or according to the consistency you like) and let it simmer for about - mins. Turn the fish in between.Add garam masala (optional) before turning off the flame.
Garnish with chopped fresh coriander and lemon.
Best paired with steamed rice or Jowar Bhakri. Enjoy! ❤️
