Dumbbell Calf Raises primarily work the calf muscle. But they also involve the gastrocnemius and the soleus—two muscles that attach to the heel bone. Stand with feet slightly less than shoulder-width apart. With your torso upright, hold a dumbbell in each hand.
With the toes pointing straight, exhale and raise the heels off the floor
Push your ankles as high as possible while contracting the calves
Hold the top contraction for a second
Inhale and go back to the starting position by slowly lowering the heels
Return to the starting position
Repeat for the desired number of reps.
