This pose helps in gently stretching the hips, thighs and ankles. It's a restorative posture, it helps you relax, calm down, relieve stress and fatigue, restores balance in the body and releases tension in the back, shoulders, and chest. Practice it after the Sun Salutations and in between sequences. Let's' look at the steps: Kneel down and place your knees and shins on the floor Touch your big toes together Separate the heels and place your hips in between your heels (you can separate the knees).
Inhale, look up and stretch the back
Exhale, bend forward bringing the chest close to the thighs and forehead on the floor
Stretch your arms backward and lay them down on the floor next to the hips, palms facing up
OR You can stretch the hands in the front of the body as far as you can reach and place the palms on the floor
Hold this position for 5 long breaths, relax Inhale, raise your head and torso up
Exhale, release the pose
