Lie down on your back with a stretching belt around the sole of your foot. Hold the belt in one hand that's on the same side of the foot. This is the starting position.
Pull on the belt to bring the toes back and raise your leg until a stretch is felt in the back of the leg
If instructed you may lift the head to increase the stretch
Now, bring the leg back to the starting position and repeat
Nerve stretches are very sensitive and need to be performed gently
Move into the stretch and stop before you feel excessive stretch sensation of the nerve
Stop if exacerbates pain.
